Pixlr Editor is a powerful free, browser based online photo editing tool. It is part of a suite of photo editing tools from Pixlr including a mobile app (covered in another Educast post). Polaroid film is becoming harder and harder to come by (*tear*), but what if you still want that retro look? In today's episode, we show you how to make a polaroid framed picture in Photoshop!
To achieve this fun and retro effect, you will need two things: a picture of your subjects, and a picture of an actual Polaroid.
Move one photo onto the other by simply using the move tool! Click and drag while holding the shift key. Next, select the center square of the Polaroid. In this case, we use the magic wand tool, but you can use any selection tool of your choice. Next click the layer mask button, and your subjects will only show up in the middle of the polaroid.
Give your image an aged and stylized effect by using a hue/saturation layer. Choose a hue that you like (we chose a sepia color) and make sure that the colorize button is checked. Clip it to the underlying layer, and feel free to lower the opacity if the effect looks too strong.
Another step we take is to further the believability of the edges. Put a gaussian blur around the edges to blend the two images in together. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pixlr: How to Quickly Photoshop and Combine, Transform Images
Step 1: Grab two photos that you want to combine Step 2: Go to https://pixlr.com (I recommend using Mozilla Firefox) Step 3: Open first image from computer Step 4: Open second image from computer Step 5: Click on the tab of the second image, Ctrl + A to select all, Ctrl + X to cut Step 6: Click on the tab of the first image, Ctrl + V to paste Step 7: Select the mouse cursor tool at the left Step 8: Ctrl + T to transform. You can resize the image, rotate, and re-position that image Step 9: At the right, you can select different layers. Ctrl + T to resize those layers Step 10: You can use the A tool to add text on the image. It creates a new layer. Step 11: You can add a layer style by the light symbol underneath the layer category. Step 12: You can always resize the entire image. Navigation provides the zoom out feature. Step 13: Save your new image after you're satisfied with your edits.

A recent client asked for a little help getting his WordPress post on his Elegant Theme blog looking sharp. His challenge was the images weren't fitting in the image slider, nice and neat. And since he's a sports guy, not a geek, he was unsure how to get the images tidied up.
Using an Online Photo Editor called Pixlr, a little forethought, and some creative license, I step you through the process of taking every day photo's and getting a unique image slide show that supports your blog content, and helps the reader connect with your message.
We will cover image scale, image cropping, and image sizing. We will also use WordPress's media library to store the images, and the new Plugin from Elegant Themes called Elegant Builder to add an image slider with some fancy effects.
